EXECUTIVE AND ADMINISTRATION DIVISION
DUTIES: The major responsibility of the GVI Coordinator is to utilize his/her public relations skills to promote awareness and the importance of group violence intervention throughout Virginia and specifically in the greater Richmond area.
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for working directly with members of the community to coordinate resources and build relationships with citizens and law enforcement using GVI strategies in the community. This position will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of evidenced-based practices to reduce and prevent violent gun and gang crimes.
The coordinator will plan and attend community meetings and events and foster partnerships with local agencies, businesses, civic and faith organizations. These partnerships will assist the coordinator in addressing gaps in services for youth/adults. The coordinator will also be responsible for progress and financial reports related to the sub-recipient monitoring of at least six existing GVI programs that have received ARPA Funding.
The candidate should have knowledge of current policies, guidelines, and initiatives related to re-entry, community crime reduction, gang and violence intervention/prevention programs, and a demonstrated commitment to criminal justice work.
This is a restricted position. The expected duration of this position is 2 years. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail. Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing (Microsoft products preferred). Criminal background check will be completed on successful candidate.
PREFEERD QUALIFICATONS: It is preferred that applicants possess a related undergraduate degree or commensurate experience.
SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
