The Office of the Attorney General has an exciting opportunity available to candidates interested in working in the Transportation Section. The successful candidate hired into this position will have the opportunity to make a huge impact to the public and local communities. This position encounters an exciting and challenging array of issues while supporting the agencies and entities responsible for Virginia’s transportation network, including roads, rail, port, space, and air. As a member of the Transportation Section, the attorney will primarily support the Department of Rail and Public Transportation. Key duties will include the delivery of a wide range of legal services, both directly and in conjunction with the Section Chief and other Assistant Attorney Generals. This position will serve in a general capacity, providing legal advice in the areas of procurement, transit grants, and interagency agreements.
QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with procurement law, transit legal issues, and/or federal grant process is preferred. Candidates should be able to communicate well with all levels of staff and management; must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work well within a team of professionals. Applicants must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that applicants have been a member of the bar for a minimum of 7 years, however, an equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the required qualifications may substitute for the membership criteria.
SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
