HEALTHCARE FRAUD AND ELDER ABUSE SECTION/ MEDICAID FRAUD CONTROL UNIT

 

DUTIES:  Conducts complex investigations involving health care providers participating in the Virginia Medicaid Program.  Reviews voluminous records, participates and/or assists in the execution of search warrants, interviews witnesses and targets of investigations, drafts overpayment schedules, participates and/or assists in undercover operations.  Some overnight travel required. The successful applicant will be responsible for analyzing records, preparing summary exhibits, conducting witness interviews, and preparing detailed, accurate written reports of interview. The selected candidate must be capable of participating in the execution of search warrants, the unannounced inspection of various provider facilities, undercover operations, and all aspects of the criminal justice system, including providing testimony at the indictment, trial, and sentencing phases. This position will work out of the Abingdon, Virginia, office.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  The selected candidate must have the ability to conduct criminal investigations into credible allegations of fraud committed by health care providers who are paid through the state and federally funded program of Medicaid. The prospective employee must demonstrate an ability to coordinate investigations with our partners at various federal, state, and local agencies, with a focus on bringing cases to a logical conclusion in a timely manner. Degree in criminal justice, political science, law enforcement, or health care administration preferred. Commensurate experience reflective of law enforcement, financial auditing, and/or investigation of financial or white collar crime will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products preferred). Criminal background check will be completed on successful candidate.
