CONSUMER PROTECTION SECTION

 

DUTIES:  This position provides secretarial and administrative support to the attorneys in the Consumer Protection Section and works with the Section Chief in the administrative management of the Section.  Secretarial duties include typing, processing mail, setting up and maintaining files, filing pleadings and correspondence, copying and scanning documents, entering information into case management system, compiling administrative reports, processing invoices for payment, completing travel and other administrative forms for attorneys, administering the Section’s record retention responsibilities, and answering telephones as needed.  The position serves as the first level of assistance for Section personnel regarding information systems and other administrative issues and procedures.  The position performs other administrative support duties as requested by the Section Chief. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional secretarial and organizational skills as well as technical proficiency using Microsoft Word (typing skill of 60-70 wpm), Excel, and databases.  Qualified candidates should have a working knowledge of legal procedures, file management practices, and basic business correspondence.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a courteous and professional telephone manner, are required.  Candidates must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adjust priorities without close supervision.  Position requires the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.  Candidates should have the ability to exercise sound judgment and interact effectively with a diverse workforce and the general public.  Candidates also must show leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with the Section Chief, Unit Managers, and Office administrative personnel in the day-to-day operations of the Section.

 

SALARY:  Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
