EDUCATION SECTION

 

DUTIES:  The primary responsibilities of the Education Section Chief include managing a team of attorneys and support staff in providing legal services to Virginia’s public universities and the community college system, the Board of Department of Education, the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, the Library of Virginia and Virginia’s public museums including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Science Museum of Virginia.  Located in Richmond, this position reports to the Deputy of the Health, Education, and Social Services Division, and as a senior supervisor, will be accountable for the performance, training and evaluation of all Education Section attorneys and support staff.  As with all positions, other duties as necessary or appropriate may also be assigned.  Some overnight travel may be required.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Successful candidate must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.  The candidate must have demonstrated ability to advise clients on education law issues, both in higher education and K-12; and excellent written and oral communication skills as evidenced by writing samples and references.  Ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.  Prior management experience preferred.

 

 

SALARY:  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
