DUTIES:  The successful candidate will provide legal consultation to Virginia‚Äôs fair housing agencies and represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in state courts, litigating cases involving alleged violations of the Virginia Fair Housing Law.  The representation will include providing consultation opinions to the appropriate agency boards, drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting all aspects of discovery, including investigation and advice to clients through the course of litigation, mediation, court appearances, and trial and appellate work.  In addition, the successful candidate will conduct administrative investigations regarding alleged violations of state and federal equal employment opportunity laws, including interviewing the parties and witnesses, collecting and reviewing relevant documents, mediating the claims, possible site visits, and drafting final outcome determinations. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Admission to the Virginia State Bar required.  A minimum of two (2) years of civil litigation in federal or state court is preferred but similar litigation or other relevant experience will be considered.  Administrative investigation or other relevant experience is also preferred.  The position requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, the ability to manage a diverse and challenging caseload, and the flexibility to work both independently and as a team member.  Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.  This position presents an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate to be a part of a dynamic team and to perform a valuable public service.
