September 19 - AG Herring Seeks Documents Related to Opioid Crisis

Attorney General Mark R. Herring today announced that a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general is seeking documents and information from manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids as part of multistate investigations into the opioid epidemic. 

 

September 18 - AG Herring Leads Bipartisan Coalition of 37 States, Territories in Fight Against Opioid Incentives

Attorney General Mark R. Herring led a coalition of 37 state and territory attorneys general in urging health insurance companies to examine financial incentives that contribute to the opioid epidemic that took more than 60,000 lives last year, including 1,100 in Virginia.

During remarks in Virginia Beach before the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference, Attorney General Mark R. Herring outlined his recommended next steps for the Commonwealth of Virginia as we continue to confront the national epidemic of opioid and heroin abuse. 

 

September 15 - AG Herring Urges Equifax to Disable Fee-Based Monitoring Services, Reimburse Fees for Security Freezes

Attorney General Mark R. Herring today joined a bipartisan coalition of state attorneys general in urging credit reporting firm Equifax to stop pushing their own fee based services on data breach victims, and to create a more transparent, user-friendly service for victims in the wake of the massive data breach impacting 143 million people, including more than four million in Virginia.
