Gangs in Virginia: Resources and Information for Citizens of the Commonwealth

Prison
Incarceration is a part of gang life. What many gang recruiters do
not explain is the harsh reality of life in prison. It is not a fun
place to be. When someone is in jail or prison, he or she is alone. Because
a gang is often seen as a business (to gang members), when one of their “employees” is
incarcerated, he or she is not able to make money for the gang and is therefore
no use to the gang. Repeatedly, in the video, the audience will hear
how gang members are abandoned once they are incarcerated and the hardships
suffered while behind bars.
