Gangs in Virginia: Resources and Information for Citizens of the Commonwealth

Activity
Along with teaching about positive mentors, the video also shows alternatives
to gang life, specifically, getting involved in positive activities. One
of the ways the video teaches kids to make positive choices is by interviewing DJ,
an 11-year-old boy from a single parent home, who, instead of getting involved
in gangs or in the streets, joins the Boys and Girls Club. He is involved
in positive activities, makes good friends, and is taught positive life lessons. Institutions,
like the Boys and Girls Clubs can be found in every community and provide
a safe, secure, positive family environment, unlike the false sense of safety
gangs promise.
