DIVISION OF DEBT COLLECTION
DUTIES: This position will provide professional legal support in the recovery of debts owed to the Commonwealth of Virginia on a large portfolio of cases. Responsibilities include identifying and locating debtors and assets; making demand for payment; establishing/monitoring payment plans; preparing general district and circuit court legal documents for attorney approval; and executing on judgments. A valid driver’s license and some overnight travel are required.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and analytical ability; the ability to prioritize the demands of a large caseload; considerable knowledge of legal principles, practices, and processes; and the ability to work both independently and as a team member to successfully complete complex assignments within prescribed time limits. Preferences include: a minimum of three years extensive collections or litigation experience with an emphasis on property damage, subrogation, personal injury, or insurance; an undergraduate degree with major course work in paralegal studies, accounting, business, or public administration; proficiency in word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products in particular). The successful candidate will be subject to a Criminal Background Check.
